Maybelline Eyeliners

BE CONFIDENT. ACCEPT YOURSELF. If you cant accept who you are, then who can?

I was in Boots a while ago and I was looking at the Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24hr (which I have been lusting over for a while now), after seeing it in a few of Tanya Burr's makeup tutorials/videos I decided it MUST be worth buying, and oh golly I was not disappointed! It comes in a little glass pot, so cute, and along with a perfect brush. Now just to point out, this isn't any old cheapo, crappy brush, I mean it's really good! It's soft and just the right size, it's easy to control and picks up the perfect amount of product. I absolutely love love love this eyeliner, I can't put into words how amazing it is, it can look so natural and effortless, but can also dramatically enhance your eyes and make them pop. I literally have nothing bad to say about this product however! I will warn you when I first opened the pot I thought, Oh you don't get much do you? buuuuut a little goes a long way and you really don't need much. And just another thing to top of the mountain of praise this baby is getting, it lasts forever! and I mean forever, it won't come off until you take it off and even then its a little tricky to budge (in a good way).

I've had this about 3 weeks now and I've worn it practically everyday. Hardly a dent!

Anyway enough rambling about that one and onto the next eyeliner I got, Maybelline were having a good day! So there was an offer on; buy one get the second half price. Now who's to blame for taking advantage of that? I've been looking for a new liquid eyeliner for a while and I am absolutely crap at the original ones, so when these felt pen style liners came out it was a god send. I initially bought the Collection 2000 (when it had the '2000') Extreme 24 hour felt tip liner as it was so cheap and did the job really well, I even repurchased it when my first one ran out. However I was looking to try out a different brand and see the difference so I thought it was a perfect opportunity; Maybelline master precise liquid eyeliner ultra fine tip. I have to say I think the only difference is the Maybelline version has a better pigment and a finer point (0.4mm) as it designed to have. This allows for a lot more precision and control, which I love! This also has great staying power and really defines your eyes, giving you freedom to create cat flicks or winged effects or even a thicker line.

To compare these to eyeliners I would say that the gel one is more of a daytime liner giving subtle definition whereas the liquid liner allows you to really go for it and make your eyes stand out. They are both really amazing and I would definitely recommend these and repurchase them. Maybelline, I salute you. You know your eyeliners.

MUA Undress Me Too palette and Bronzer

We all forget how easy it is to smile, it is free and infectious. I think we should all aim to smile more and hopefully spread a bit of happiness, hey it is summer after all! :)

So I finally jumped on the bandwagon and purchased the MUA Undress Me Too palette, I was so disappointed to have missed the first one and I'm not sure if you can still get it which is sad as I heard it was better than this one and a much better due for the Urban Decay Naked palette than this is for the Naked2. However as it's such a bargain I just couldn't not, and I don't regret it either. Although I haven't got much use out of it yet as the weather has be so hot I have been keeping my makeup incredibly minimal, I don't doubt it will become a fast favourite for me; it's so nice having such a selection in one place compared to separate shadows and it has a great mix of shimmers and mattes. I'm also hoping that the black will be useful as a liner to create a softer outline than liquid or pencil liner, however I haven't tried it yet therefore I don't know how the colour pay off is, but from swatches it seems like it will be great. For such a small price it really is great pigmentation and just swatching them makes me so excited to try them out, I love all the colours and can't wait to create different looks with them all.

Now onto the bronzer, I wanted to see what this was like because one it was only £3 and it just appealed to me immediately by it's look. I have umm'd and ahh'd over this for a few weeks wondering if it will be worth bothering with and if I need it but I decided why not?! you can never have too many bronzers after all. From swatching it I wasn't to impressed as it seemed that the colour pay off wasn't great, which almost turned into disaster when I went to use it on my face! My brush obviously worked better than my fingers when picking up the product as I ended up with, a rather let's say 'bronzed' cheek. However I did find it was easy to blend it and thankfully was easy to rescue (I think having a slight tan helped too). It gives a lovely glow and really enhances your tan. I would say you can use it to contour to using a smaller brush, I haven't tried this yet but from first impressions I would say I would be ideal for these summer months.

These products have only reinforced my growing love for MUA and I'm certain that I will continue to try out more of their range.

Mini Miss Sporty Haul

So not that long ago Boots had a 3 for 2 offer on on Miss Sporty products, and I'd heard that the So Clear anti blemish foundation was a good, cheap alternative to a BB cream. So I thought considering there was an offer on and I wanted to test it out I went for it and picked up some other things too. Now I haven't bought Miss Sporty products since I first started buying makeup, I kind of forgot about the brand really and brushed it off as for younger girls; however some of their products are really good and their nail varnishes are really cheap!

Now onto the foundation, I have to say I was disappointed when I tried this out as they didn't have many shades to choose from, I know I know they are only cheap but I have quite pale skin and even the Light was slightly the wrong colour. Anyway I tried it out and it didn't get much better really, it says it lasts 9 hours which I don't think it did I would say a lot less, it is a very light coverage so I guess it could be classed as a BB cream and it has does claim to minimize the appearance of pores and skin imperfections. However I would not buy this again and think that spending a little more money definitely does give you better quality.

However (a big however as well!) I really really like the other two products I bought, woo for offers! In fact they have made it into my daily makeup routine! Now I'mm not going to lie I did only purchase this concealer because I needed an new one and wanted to try something new, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. It says it has vitamins E&C in it so I guess that's always good, but it really did surprise me how good it turned out to be. It's buildable without looking cakey and blends really easily and for only £2.99 I'm pretty pleased! Next is the So Matte Perfect Stay Pressed Powder, it does what it says basically, makes your face look matte and although I would say it does last a long time I wouldn't necessarily say it lasts 10 hours as it claims, you would need to top it up maybe once or twice throughout the day and it comes with a little mirror which makes it easy!

I would just like to say this review is based on my skin type so if you have more oily skin these products may be different, I tend to have combination skin that can be dry sometimes.

Overall I'm happy with my purchases and you win some you lose some right? These two products will stay in my go-to list for sure.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation and Garnier Moisture Match Revitalising Hydrating Gel

I have no idea why it has taken me so long to blog about this but I guess it's better late than never.
Firstly for the foundation;
I had heard so many good reviews about this and my friend told me she thought it was really good to, so I went ahead and bought it as I was looking for a new foundation at the time. I was really impressed with this foundation and really like it, it's got good coverage that I would describe as medium, it also has SPF 18 in it which appealed to me more as it makes protecting your face from the harmful rays so much easier. I love the packaging and the glass bottle makes it look so much more sleek. It says that it lasts all day which I wouldn't agree with, I think it last around 4-5 hours on my skin which isn't amazing, however if I invested in a good primer I think it may stay a bit longer. Also I think I picked up a shade slightly to dark for me, but hopefully with this nice weather around I'll be able to get a bit browner and match it up (fingers crossed).

On to the gel moisturiser:
I recieved 2 samples of these new moisture match range in July's Company magazine and was chuffed because I had wanted to try them but wasn't sure which one to go for. I had the Wake Me Up one for dull skin and the mattifying one for combination to oily skin, I tried both and decided that the Wake Me Up was more suited to me and went out and bought it. I really like using this moisturiser as its a gel and feels really light on the skin, it absorbs really quickly and refreshes your face. It really does wake up your skin and make it feel revitalised and hydrated just what it says on the tin. Also for a bonus it smells lush!

Sorry I haven't blogged for so long I really need to slap myself on the wrists and make more time for this blog. I will see you soon!

It's July!

I chose this quote because its a new month and I want to remind you all to appreciate what we have. Its officially summer and since I've finished school forever this is the longest summer I'll get; when you stop and think, we actually have so much that we take for granted and I think it's healthy to remind yourself of that and to realise all the chances you get that so many others don't get.

I was looking around my house the other day trying to find something I'd lost (which I do frequently may I add) when I came across these beauties. The first is an ancient Avon eyeshadow duo in the shades 'classic neutral' and the name says it all; its a lovely brown with a highlighting nude that comes out a lot lighter than in the palette and as you can see was quite hard to capture the colour on camera. Anyway I look forward to trying these out and love finding handy little things knocking around the house!
The next thing I found was this Barry M nail varnish that unfortunately has no label on it any more however it does say number 308 which I'm guessing is the shade? BUT it is a lovely colour and is very summery, so I reckon I'll get a lot of use out of this little find.

That was a great start to July and I hope this month continues to be a very fun and eventful one, I will try to blog more however I'm working a lot to save up money so I may be to tired to type coherently. I'll try though I promise!
