New Look Tops and New Quote Insert

I've seen this on some other blogs and thought it was a really nice idea, so I've decided to join in! On each post I'll start it with a quote that I think is 'inspirational' or worth sharing, I like to see these as they make me think and its always good to reflect.

Anyway onto the proper stuff, so I was browsing New Look's sales the other day and ended up buying a couple tops, so I thought I would share them :)

The first top wasn't actually on sale but I had seen it before and really liked it, so I thought whilst I'm at it I may as well grab that on too. I mentioned it in a blog post I made called Pinks! which you can view here (http://beautyiwant.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/pinks.html). I'm so glad I purchased this and love how easy it is to wear, it's a really flattering shape and colour and is lovely and light and flowy, which is great for the sunny weather at the moment; this was £9.99.

The second top is quite different from my normal, I tend to stick with simple or plain tops rather than bold printed tees, but I thought it was about time to try and change that and considering this top was £4 in the sale I thought I couldn't go wrong to be honest.

I did purchase another one but it turned out to be completely not what I expected so I had to send it back, which is a shame as I really liked the detail and design.

Makeup Brushes Have Arrived!

So I thought since I want to start getting in beauty more i should invest in a make-up essential; make-up brushes. I seen rave after rave about Real Techniques brushes and have even gone into shops and looked at them, but since I don't have a ton of money and beauty isn't the most important thing priority wise at the moment I couldn't justify forking out that amount for each brush, however much I wanted to. So I scavenged around website such as ELF, but found myself in the end on eBay! Surprisingly I found this great  company that sell make-up brushes at an incredibly cheap price range; admittedly they come from Hong Kong so they take a while to get to you but with FREE p+p why the hell not?!

I got this pack of 5 brushes for £12.39 which is an absolute steal in my opinion. In this set I got: a blush brush, a stippling brush, an angled foundation brush, a buffing brush and a flat powder brush (these brushes didn't come under these names, or with any names at all so this is just my interpretation).

I only got these today so have not had a chance to use all of them yet however I have tried out the buffing brush and it works great, they are all artificial bristles so are not real hair; this allows you to use less product as it does not get absorbed by the brush. Theses brushes are very soft and smooth on your face, which I'm guessing would be good to use on sensitive skin as well (I don't have that sensitive skin). The handles are nice to hold in use and also allow you to stand them when not in use so they don't get damaged.

Overall I think these brushes are a bargain for the money paid and do the job really well. As a novice with anything make-up brushy these have made a good first impression and I'm glad that these were my first investment.

Mini Drugstore Haul

So I went for a little spree in the MUA section. I have seen loads about these new MUA nail varnishes that are the new dupes for Essie, they have a mirror image bottle design which I like cause I'm a cheeky cheapskate who loves a bargain. I picked up two colours cause they're only £1; the colours I got were Bold Blue and Moody Mink, the first is a cute baby blue and the second is a mauvey taupe colour. I really like them both and think they both come out great, even though they do take a few coats but what can you expect for only £1!

Next from MUA I picked up a lipstick that I've had my eye on for a while now, it's shade 16, and its a lovely orange coral. I think it will be great for summer and it's one of my first brighter shades in my lipstick collection. I've gone slightly bonkers for lip colour and lipsticks lately so I thought I should expand my choices and rather than keeping it safe I thought I would go a bit crazy (without going to far for now). Its a lovely pigmentation and formula that goes on smoothly, also for £1 I love it!

Finally I picked up something I have been longing for for ages! Garnier's summer body gradual tan moisturiser, being a fair skinned (depressingly pale) person I don't like to get my legs out in summer which causes trouble for me attempting to get them tanned in the first place; so I thought to build my confidence slightly and help me bare my legs for the sun I would help them along a bit first and try to be slightly less pale, and it's worked! I can see the difference myself however I'm not sure about anyone else yet so I'm going to keep it up. I picked this up in light-medium and love it, it's actually a great moisturiser as well as the tanning so it's an all round great product so I would definitely recommend this! (it also smells like apricots mmm)

I'm sorry for not posting I'm really stressed and busy at the moment with exams and revision but I should be able to post more soon, once I'm on study leave, so I'll try and be better then.

I should be revising now but I'd rather be doing this so I am :)

Mini Dainty Doll Haul

So I have fallen in love with Fragrance Direct! I'm probably really late on this but I saw another blog mention it and now I'm hooked.

While I was flicking through the site I noticed they had some Dainty Doll products on there which is a line of products by Nicola Roberts (from Girls Aloud duh!) and really wanted to give them a try. I purchased three products; the loose mineral powder foundation, powder blush and concealer pen.

Firstly the loose mineral powder foundation. I ordered this in 003 Now That I've Found You, I had absolutely no idea about the shades so I kind of just went for a lucky guess. The first thing I noticed was that the packaging was elegant and I liked the black and gold. I also like the idea of these powder foundations that come with a brush however (it may just be me and my cack-handedness) but I can't seem to use this very well. I think it was quite difficult to get the powder out and onto my face, however once I did, I did like the product and thought it left a nice finish. The practicality of having a retractable cover for the brush seemed very little as I found it quite stiff and uneasy. I am still debating how much I like this product or not.

Moving swiftly on to the concealer pen, I ordered his in 004 It's A Kind Of Magic, once again I had no idea about the shades of these and I'm not going to lie, I got drawn in by the name (simple things ey?)
Now when I ordered this I was silly enough not to see what shade was what and didn't realise I had ordered a correcting pen, this confused me as it was labelled a 'concealer pen' and assumed that a corrector would be labelled differently, but I think that's partially my fault.

I also made the mistake of clicking then end too many times, thinking nothing was coming out I just kept clicking away until I realised that it wouldn't stop coming out! Anyway after all the dilemmas were over I finally tested it out and think it is actually quite a good corrector. I don't own one yet and was actually hunting to buy one so I guess this was a stroke of luck. The formula is creamy and a good coverage and considering it's meant for fair skin it fits the brief.

Last but not least the blusher, now I searched for this after reading another blog post about it saying they really liked it and thought it was a great bargain on Fragrance Direct; obviously I had to check it out! I ordered it in 004 You Are My Sunshine and I have to say I love love love the names they have given their products, it makes it so much more enjoyable to choose.

I love the colour of this blush and that is what intrigued me initially, in the pan its such a gorgeous burnt orangey red with a golden shimmer. It has a great pigment that you can dust on the apples of your cheeks for a slight glow or build it if you want. I do think this is more of a wintery colour however I think it could be apply lightly just to make your cheeks pop. The gold shimmer is also not too much which could make this blush more versatile in summery months to give you more of a glow.
I love the fact that none of their products are tested on animals and that they have created a whole range of make up for fairer skinned women. I think overall these products are good, with some exceptions, both good and bad, I would definitely recommend this range to try out  and if you do, tell me what you think?

Exams

1 down 10 to go

So my final set of exams has arrived and I am really dreading them. I've had one already but I still have another 10 to go!
I have written out a list of my exams in order that they are coming and the dates they are on in hope that each time I finish an exam I can cross it off and just be happy about how much closer to them being over I am and summer coming up and leaving school.

It sucks that my last exam is maths but I guess it gives me the most time to revise for it. I am so incredibly happy to be leaving school and the long summer I'll be getting but I'm still quite nervous to think about how different everything is going to be and how I'll cope in college. (I'll probably turn into a right loner who sits alone at lunch)

But I guess this is my excuse for being crap at posting, I'm revising; and I am so exhausted lately, all I can think about is sleep.

But anyway hope you liked a kind of different post tonight as well as a fashion-y one.

Pinks!

For some reason I will never why I have always been really against the colour pink. I don't like wearing it or owning anything pink or using pink coloured things, do not ask me why I have no idea.

However lately I have began to find myself taking a fancy to clothing that is a peachy/coral colour or a shell pink. I think these colour seem to look nice with my hair colour and with my fair skin which I never thought would sound right considering I am very fair skinned.

I have found a few items though that have started to convert me, oh no!

I think the peter pan collar on this top is so cute and especially the crochet details, the baby pink colour also just makes this such a cute top and I really like it. This is £19.99.
The simpleness of this cami makes it just so easy to shove on with some jeans and you still get a nice outfit, sometimes I think simple looks so much better and I love just to feel comfy. The shape of the top is lovely and floaty and I am really tempted to buy this; it is £9.99.
I adore this top and think it is soo cute, the bow on the front is such a nice feature however I'm not sure it would suit me entirely but I had to mention it cause I just love it! Its £16.99 which isn't bad and I also think you could easily dress it up or down depending on the rest of your outfit.

These are all from New Look and are all really affordable, no wonder pink is winning me over; not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

My Ball Makeup

So on wednesday evening I had my Leavers Ball and I thought I would share how I did my make-up and what I used.

I decided not to use foundation and only used a little concealer to cover up my main blemishes and under my eyes.

For under my eyes I used Natural Collections CoverUp Stick in fair, this blends nicely and is a simple product that is cheap and does the job. I do have to say however this can be slightly drying therefore is not great on spots.

For covering my blemishes I used another concealer from Natural Collection, this is the CoverUp Cream also in fair. I like the formulation of this product which as you can see (sorry) has been much loved. The only thing with this product is that it doesn't blend too well and can look slightly patchy, however due to it being cheap this can be expected and with patience you can smooth the colour out.

For my eyes I decided to splash out and wore some fake eyelashes. I really liked the shape of these and they also weren't to big or false looking so as a first-timer with eyelashes I really liked these. The shape and curl really helped to open my eyes and exaggerate them. Overall I loved these and would definitely buy them again. Just underneath these on my actual eyelashes I used Estee Lauder's Double Wear concealer and mascara duo, the mascara is the zero-smudge lengthening  formulation and it does exactly that. I absolutely love this mascara I couldn't rave about it enough, trust me! I put on about 2 coats just to blend my lashes in with the fakes, I chose to use this one just because the wand is long and thin and gets all your lashes. (I couldn't use the concealer that comes with this as the colour is too dark for me)
So after doing my lashes I decided to add some liner just to finish off my eyes. On my upper waterline I used my favourite kohl pencil liner from Rimmel, this glides on so easily and is so pigmented, I just love it! Then on my upper lash line I used a liquid liner to just make my false eyelashes look more real and so that the glue/join could not be seen. I'm sorry I don't know what the liquid liner was as it was my friends and I don't have it :( but whatever it was it was bloody brilliant so I will have to find out!
Then on my lips I chose to use a bright lip that practically matched my dress. It was Rimmel's Lasting Finish Kate in 05, I think this colour is stunning, it is a  dark pinky fuchsia colour that really makes your lips pop. I think this colour matched my skin tone well and really finished off my make-up well. The formulation is lovely, it goes on smoothly and is very moisturising with a colour that stays. I think I only topped this up once throughout my night.

Elle and Benefit

So I decided to jump on the bandwagon this month and grab the latest Elle magazine. Quite frankly I'm not surprised that so many people have gone racing down to the shops to get this, with the rave reviews Benefits They're Real mascara has got its a no brainer to snap up this offer. At the 4g weight this tube is worth £9.50 and the magazine being only £4, well I think that its a crazy good offer that's to hard to miss. As I'm sure your all aware this mascara is simply magical, its brilliantly shaped brush allows your lashes to be lengthened as well as volumised and the end of the wand helps you to coat every lash right up to each end. As I haven't already (and am very late too) I will definitely be purchasing this once my miniature runs out.

Sorry for the two posts in one day but as I mentioned in my previous post I am rather behind and am trying to make up for that.

A few gems...

I have realised that I haven't been the greatest blogger recently, meaning I haven't posted anything in a while, however I have got a fair excuse! I have been rather busy lately with my   leavers ball and final exams coming up, so I'm sorry but things have been quite frantic. Anyway I have a few posts lined up and I excited to share it all!

Firstly in this post I am going to being introducing you to some lifesavers and handy products that have made the past few weeks a little bit easier.

To start with is my new best friend, Iglu Mouth Ulcer Treatment. Due to a lot of stress recently from school, life and other things I have had some quite nasty and painful mouth ulcers, now normally I reach for some Bonjela and that clears it up in a few days or if I'm really feeling it I will gargle some salt water (yuck) however this time my usual techniques just weren't cutting it. So I went to a local pharmacy and asked them what I should do and they suggested this little miracle. It is A-mazing! You put on about a pea-sized amount (ew peas) and it almost instantly takes away the pain; it comes out the tube in a paste form and once it touches your saliva it reacts to form a gel barrier over the ulcer. It is really crazy and quite gross but like I said amazing so I have nothing to complain about with this product, it is a real lifesaver!

Next up is Witch's Gentle Exfoliating Face Wash. Now this has always been a must have for me and I absolutely love this product, I have repurchased this exfoliater every time since I have bought it and have gone through countless bottles. I think also due to the stress I have had quite bad skin lately and this has helped a lot to keep it clear. The witch hazel extract is really great to help to calm down your skin and reduce redness. This scrub is not to harsh like some can be and also lathers nicely so it is gentle on your skin.

I like to pair this with Nivea's Daily Essentials Oil Free Moisturising Day Cream, this also is an absolute favourite of mine, this too has been repurchased quite a few times and is my go-to face moisturiser. It leaves your skin feeling refreshed, nourished and rehydrated; with this a little goes a long way so you don't need a lot meaning this product also lasts a long time which I love! The fact that it is oil free means it is light weight and it also sinks in incredibly fast, not feeling sticky or claggy at all.

Last but  not least is Cutex's Acetone Free Nail Varnish Remover, now because my leavers ball has come up my mum treated me to having my nails done. However because my nails are now gels I can't use normal nail varnish remover when I want to take off my nail varnish. I popped into my local Boots to see if they had an acetone free remover that I had been told to use and found this mini bottle. It's only 100ml so it's smaller than normal bottles however I don't know how long I can afford to keep my nails so I thought it was quite handy in fact. This product exceeded my expectations as, without reason, I assumed because it was lacking in acetone I assumed it would not work as efficiently as normal nail varnish removers, however it is just as good, if not better than some. Now I'm no nails expert so my assumptions were obviously silly, but I was pleasantly surprised and am very happy with this product :)

I am sorry for rambling on and to be honest I don't know how I had so much to say about these products but there you go. I'm sure someone out there like me will find this helpful or at least will agree with me, I hope.

Benefit Samples

So this week I was given some samples from Benefit; I got some cleansing wipes and some Triple Performing Facial Emulsion.
Firstly I was surprised by the cleansing wipes as the actual wipe isn't what I expected, now this sounds strange I know but instead of being like make-up wipes or baby wipes, they are more like moist towelettes, like you get in KFC? Do you know what I mean? Anyway other than that they are really good, you get a lot of product on the wipe considering. I use them to take any final make-up off after the initial removal. They are handy to have and as they already come on the wipe are very quick and easy.

Secondly comes the face emulsion; this is described as "sheer oil-free facial lotion SPF 15", I think this product is very moisturising, hydrating and also plumps your skin too. The 'triple performance' says to hydrate, protect and comfort your skin, and I think it definitely does that. Especially for me, having quite dry skin, I think this is a very satisfying product that is refreshing to put on. The cream is very light weight therefore does not take long to absorb and will go a long way with very little. Also on an added note for people like me, I think its really cute how they've kept the same design in the packaging and have a cork like effect on top of the bottle, I'm very aesthetically pleased when it comes to packaging.

Let me know if this was helpful and if you enjoyed my review :)
